My dad is in town from Florida for a couple of days, so we wanted to take him to a place that none of had been before. We called it Becky's Birthday dinner so she got to pick. Her choice was a good one :)
Gallo's Pit BBQ opened in May and we had passed it many times as it is on one of our routes home on 161 (the old Hoggy's building next to the tracks in Linworth)
It has your basic BBQ style menu. Ribs, brisket, chicken, and pulled pork. Their sides are traditional BBQ style as well: Mac n cheese, coleslaw, baked beans, corn bread and a few others you'd expect on the menu. They also have Wings, but we didn't try those this time.
Overall the meal was very good! I ordered the Pulled Pork Platter (pictured) Becky got the Brisket (her usual BBQ go to) dad got the Pulled pork sammich.
They have 2 sauces to choose from, original - which is a little sweet for my tastes - and Spicy BBQ - this one takes a couple seconds for the burn to hit, but it's a good amount of heat without being too hot.
Overall the experience was good. They had a good selection of Blues playing over the speakers which is always a bonus touch for me! The coleslaw was quite a bit different than most slaws I've had, and I've had a LOT of coleslaw. It had peppers diced into it and the creamy sauce had a different bite to it. Alone it was so-so, not bad but not amazing. When I put it on the pulled pork, however, it really paired up nicely!
I would definitely recommend anyone that likes BBQ (if you don't like BBQ you're a Communist) it offers the basics that you're used to with a different spin on the sauce than what you usually see around Cbus.
Thumbs up to the wait staff and crew, they were busy but we got our order in and food to the table in a very timely manner.
Check it out, and let me know what you think in the comment section below :)
